Information

Director Steven Pollock is a second-generation art dealer from a family of New York gallerists. From Jackson Pollock in the 1950s to Warhol, Wesselmann, Hirst, Chapman Brothers, Banksy and beyond for the 21st century, Pollock Fine Art brings the Modern Masters to the discerning collector.

Established in 1998 from a modern house in Primrose Hill, Pollock Fine Art has been behind the scenes working directly with private collectors as well as top galleries worldwide.

Selected exhibitions include London New York Bristol, Warhol vs Banksy, Peter Blake, After Munch, Diamond Dust Salon and Bjarne Melgaard. The Warhol vs Banksy exhibition, held in association with The Hospital boasted 15,000 visitors in three weeks and equally overwhelming world-wide press. Pollock, although representing no artists has been the first in the UK to exhibit Barjne Melgaard, Loretta Lux and Scott Campbell.

The history of the gallery began a generation before with New York’s Peridot Gallery. Pollock’s uncle Lou established the Peridot in 1948 near N.Y.’s thriving 10th St. at 6 East 12th St. The Peridot Gallery was an early supporter of American avant-garde art. It staged both Louise Bourgeois & Philip Guston’s first one-person shows as well as the American premiere exhibition of Medardo Rosso. The Peridot also hosted groundbreaking theme shows, such as Sculpture by Painters with Jackson Pollock, James Brooks, Esteban Vicente, Wynton Kees, Arthur Drexler and Alfred Russell. The Peridot Gallery contributed greatly to establishing the Hirshorn Collection in Washington DC as well as selling Alfred Barr for the Museum of Modern Art its first Louis Bourgeois, at the insistence of Marcel Duchamp.
